At the invitation of the Reverend Harry Edwards, Lead Chaplain for the Severn Hospice,  Veronica and I attended their Lights of Love service at St Chad’s in Shrewsbury, together with the High Sheriff’s Chaplain, the Reverend Prebendary David North. Becky Richardson, Severn Hospice Deputy Director of Care, gave an address about the challenges faced by those with terminal cancer.  We had fine singing from the Newport Male Voice Choir and fine playing by the Wem Jubilee Band. The service was very well attended with about 600 in the congregation, reflecting the fact that the Hospice touches so many people’s lives. This is a charity that deserves support from us all – its staff and volunteers provide wonderful care to those at the end of their lives and do so much to alleviate the suffering of their patients.
