Clun Christmas Lights Festival

Sunday 3rd December 2017

At the invitation of Jack Limond, Chairman of Clun Town Council, Veronica and I attended Clun’s Christmas Lights Festival. Celebrations started at 5.30 pm with the procession of children, carrying home-made lanterns, from the Church over the bridge and into the Square. The procession was led by the town’s splendid Ice Queen. The Reverend Simon Mondon, vicar of Clun church, led the carols assisted the Rapsquillion Band. A fire engine – manned by volunteers – then delivered Santa to his grotto (the former prison) in the Square and, after a brief speech explaining that Clun is very important to us as Veronica was born there, I brought proceedings to a formal close by turning on the Christmas lights. We were fortified at critical moments during the proceedings by drinks generously provided by Jack Limond, who owns the White Horse Inn in the Square.
