At the invitation of Brigadier Robin Anderton-Brown, Veronica and I attended the 11th Signal and West Midlands Brigade Reception and Beating the Retreat at Venning Barracks, Donnington. After an excellent parachute display put on by the Silver Stars Parachute Display Team, we witnessed the ceremony of Beating the Retreat by the band of the Royal Logistics Corps and the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Corps of Signals. Both events were extremely impressive in terms of the precision and style with which they were executed. We also had an opportunity to view some of the vehicles and weapons used by the brigade. We were very well looked after by our hosts and greatly enjoyed the evening.
