I attended the Civic Reception given by the University Centre, Shrewsbury to welcome this year’s new undergraduate and postgraduate students. Both Professor Tim Wheeler DL , Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chester, and Sir David Lees DL, Chairman of the University for Shropshire Advisory Board, spoke to outline the plans for the future of the University Centre. Jane Mackenzie, the Mayor Shrewsbury, gave a speech putting the advent of the University in the context of Shrewsbury’s long history.
