Veronica and I attended the opening of Ellesmere College’s new indoor tennis centre. The new centre, comprising four hard courts, was officially opened by Annabel Croft, former British number One tennis player and now a well-known TV and radio commentator. She is still passionately involved in tennis, running her own academy in Portugal. The event was well attended with by other guests from the world of tennis, representatives of the LTA and of the local community, the contractors for the tennis centre and the school’s Tennis Scholars. Annabel Croft spoke about the need for intense dedication to the sport for those who want to progress and praised the school for its wide ranging sporting and academic achievements.

(Note – the High Sheriff is also Chairman of the Governors of Ellesmere College!)
