An assembly of Coleham Primary School in St. Mary’s Church, Shrewsbury, celebrated the anniversary of Magna Carta with a signing of their school charter.    What a great idea for helping bring Magna Carta to life.   The usual suspects were there – The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Vice Lord Lieutenant, the Leader of the Council, and me – and the church was packed.

There was a very good address by Kelly Powell. The children put on a lively dance re-enactment of the Great Fire of Shrewsbury – no me neither – it was in 1234 after the sacking of the town by Welsh invaders, led by Llewellyn the Great.   Had some good chats with the children who were delightful and very jealous of my shrieval “threads”.
