This morning I appeared on the Jim Hawkins show with Ryan Kennedy standing in.   It gave me the opportunity to talk about the role of High Sheriff and my plans for the year and “the opportunity and challenge of old age” – the theme for my shrieval year. I was able to talk about the work of Age UK and The Shropshire Rural Community Council – two organisations of whom the county should be proud, and who do a lot of work with the elderly.   I was also asked about dairy farming – caught slightly on the hop I came away wishing I had encouraged the listeners to buy British-made dairy products – if consumers switched from imported dairy products like Lurpak and Activia it would go a very long way to solving the current crisis.
