At the invitation of Rowena and James Nason, Veronica and I visited Pitchford Hall, near Shrewsbury, and met some of the volunteers who have been showing visitors round the house and helping with the restoration, which is still continuing in most of the property. The house itself is quite fantastic, a half-timbered Grade 1 Elizabethan mansion dating back to the 1560s, with what is believed to be the oldest tree house in the world  – and well worth a visit (see http://www.pitchfordestate.com/ ) – but was in quite a bad state of internal repair when Rowena and James bought it back a couple of years ago. They are renovating the house and it is possible to see round as the renovation continues. This is a wonderful project which deserves our support.
