My wife and I attended an awards ceremony organised by the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to honour firefighters for exceptional and longstanding service to the Fire Brigade. The Lord Lieutenant, Sir Algernon Heber-Percy, presented Long Service and Good Conduct medals to over 25 firefighters, including two awards for 40 years’ service. I presented the High Sheriff’s Good Citizen’s Award to honour the extraordinary efforts of Blue Watch, Shrewsbury to bring happiness to the children of Chernobyl by hosting an annual respite visit to Shrewsbury Fire Station as part of a three week visit to the UK organised by the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Charity.  More details on the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service may be found on shropshirefire.gov.uk.
